Raise that flag my man, used to go to town on the rolled tacos. Turned into a pool hall by us
I also enjoyed their red stew as well…someone said their is still one open in Arlington. I live in Plano so not so close.
There used to be a nice restaurant on smith or louisiana that had blue walls and wild game trophies mounted on the walls. Anyone remember its name?
Other great 80’s and 90’s places were Spoons, Tony’s, Boston Sea Party and House of Pies. Also Houston’s.
Houston’s is owned by a company called Hillstone. The Houston’s location on Kirby is still open under the name Hillstone.
Here’s on that I’ll bet none of you either remember, ate at, or were born when they were open at Hillcroft and SW freeway. The Velvet Turtle. Very good prime rib.
Hebert’s Ritz? Can’t remember the exact location, but near downtown. Great steaks, really had a good crowd back in the day of taking a client to lunch and having a couple of drinks.
Texas Tumbleweed!!
Catfish Kitchen
Monterrey House
Cafe Adobe
Chuckwagon
I always thought that Monterrey House was…THE PITS!!!
Sad to say Treebeard’s Market Square is now on this list
Here I am eating one last lunch before they closed in June '20
Must have eaten there a few hundred times when I worked Downtown '89-'02
Don’t they still have four locations? A few downtown?
Yes — they are still in the Tunnels, ‘the Church’, and a new location on Gaylord in Bunker Hill open 11–9 daily which I really like — Locations | Treebeards
My Dad used to LOVE that place. He took me there a few times. Good eating!
Ragin’ Cajun and James Coney Island seem to both be in a death spiral. I used to eat at them both but they are not quite good enough to entice me to drive all the way to their remaining locations.
Luby’s and Fuddruckers are still close enough to get some of WheelerBoy’s money.
I miss James Coney Island, we used to have two Cypress locations.
They closed the Katy location on Mason Road.
They closed The Meadows location on SW frwy
That’s the one I frequented. Hate to say it but I go to their replacement, Cabo Bob’s, more than I went to JCI
