Which of these lost Houston Restaurants did you eat at?

I believe that’s it.

Stuart Anderson’s Black Angus Steakhouse on Hwy 6 was a great restaurant.

They still have them out in the Western US, and in Hawaii.

Ruby Reds had a great chargrilled burger! Was I the only one who enjoyed Strawberry Patch, an early Pappas restaurant.

The original flying Dutchman …after tilman bought it he ruined it

Pier 8, was on the seabrook side of the channel, all fish markets there now

Franco’s Pizza and Italian in clear lake

spent a lot of time in college at Bennigans…their all gone now

Frenchies has reopened and it is on Richmond just west of the beltway.

Who has eaten at NoName BBQ in Pasadena. I used to love it but they changed their chopped beef sandwich and I don’t go there any more.

Have family in the area and have never been to NoName (or heard of it). For BBQ in that area, we like Andy’s Google Maps

Ballatori - (was at 4215 Leeland) near Mandola’s Deli. Great Italian food served family style!

Green’s BBQ - (was at 5404 Almeda Rd). Great BBQ

Back in the day, 1970s and 80s there was an Italian / Jewish deli on Hillcroft in southwest Houston named Zinante’s.

When I was in Catering at the Shamrock, I entertained potential clients all the time at Trader Vic’s. The Indonesian Lamb Rack was still the best ever.

Vic Bergeron was a unique guy.

Still have the recipe book for all the cocktails they served. Not the one sold in stores but the actual one that the bartenders used.

Old San Francisco Steakhouse. My wife worked as a waitress and we held our wedding reception there.

We even have a photo of the bride swinging from the giant swing

So glad this thread got revived…so many fun memories! Maxim’s was another one as mentioned above that was great. So many of my favs were back in the day of long “business” lunches with clients. They usually had their favorites which made it more conducive to trying new restaurants. Miss that…tend to stick with familiar ones these days. Need to do better.

Hey Dave it has no name. But it is on 225 on the northside before Red Bluff.

Ducho’s Steakhouse Restaurant, anyone?

Couldn’t even imagine that place being around now with the covid environment. The baked potato sides/dressing dish that got passed around table to table would be a big time no-no.

Man, I loved that place. Steak, baked potato, dessert and my folks buying a sleeve of Life Savers at the cashier when we left.

One great “secret” BBQ place was “The Wink” on Winkler in Pasadena. Much like Anaya’s, it was a restaurant (one could call it that) attached to a bar/beer joint/club. Their sauce was so good one could drink it like a beverage. Miss that place for 55 years now . . . . .

Since Barry’s was mentioned in this thread, anyone know what’s going on at their old site? I noticed it’s gotten an updated paint job (that appears to be in progress) and they’ve changed some interior signage but I have no clue what it’s gonna be.

Frenchys in the 80s was good all over when they expanded - they had one on ost though that had a steam table. The owner got too behind on things and lost all of them except the original - some changed names or added another vowel like the one off I-10 and Waco

Timmy Chans on hillcroft and bissonett was way better than what’s being served now lol

You has Christie’s on Bellaire next to Picos and the two story Lubys

For those Missouri City folks - Grady’s BBQ when he served the meat at the dead end of Fondren and independence in the 80s from his pit on the truck. He sold a chopped beef sandwich, chips and soda for 2 dollars lol

Frenchy’s 1970.

I remember that place with the swing…

I think they served the chicken fried steak @ Goodson’s on a plate, but you had to eat a lot of the steak to find the plate !
