I never ate at Cliftons By The Sea in Baycliff, have you ever eaten the cinnamon rolls at Monument Inn? If you haven’t eaten both, how can you compare, which I can’t. But I will still say that the cinnamon rolls at Monument Inn are outstanding! Whether they are better than Cliftons By The Sea is subject to debate, but it really boils down to a matter of personal taste.
Strack’s restaurant was a Klein original. Used to have the biggest chicken fried steak.
Montgomery Inn outside Cincinnati has the best ribs.
Happy to hear that Luby’s won’t be on the list of lost Houston Restaurants. I don’t eat there too often, but it’s just one of those places that needs to always be there when you need it.
I’ve gone to Lubys for over 20 years with my parents maybe 4-5 times a year. It’s one of those places I’m glad isn’t closing by tradition alone.
Did I hear that just Luby’s was saved, or does that include Fuddrucker’s as well?
In Katy, the two on Cinco Ranch Blvd. are right next door to each other.
Thank goodness. Its a travesty what the Papas did to Luby’s and Fudruckers.
Luby’s was saved on Monday. I believe Fuddrucker’s was purchased recently and will remain open as well.
It’s been awhile since I’ve eaten at either but like both and are pleased they will stay open.
I rarely eat banana cream pie except when I go to Luby’s.
See, in Cinco Ranch, there is a combined Luby’s and Fuddrucker’s location on Cinco Ranch Blvd. It seems that both closed during the pandemic. I wonder if both will reopen.
You would have to be in our older generation but who remembers the San Jacinto Inn? Great Sunday dinners with fried chicken family style and so much more. I miss it.
I definitely remember it. When I was a kid, I went there with my Grandparents more than once. DELICIOUS!!!
Definitely for the older generation: Anybody remember Mickey Mantle’s chicken restaurant in Spring Branch? Location was Long Point and Witte.
Had great chicken and I was a huge Mickey Mantle fan. It closed in late 1960s or early 70s. Site is currently Mambo Seafood.
Thanks for posting about Lubys, great news! Fuddruckers too! Wish some of their locations in Dallas Closed during pandemic. One in Frisco was always busy.
Just 32 Luby’s locations have been saved. Out here in the Katy area, one on Mason road saved, one on Cinco Blvd not on list.
Fuddrucker’s was purchased and saved by a different group.
Ugh.
Mason Road is a longer drive for me.
Thanks for the update!
To be honest, the food at the Cinco Ranch location had really gone to the dogs. Cold food, like from the fridge cold, and fewer entrees.
Whatever happened to Bennigans?
What about Steak and Ale?
Both Benningans snd Steak and Ale-closed quite a few years ago. Their are a couple Bennigans that tried to survive but now I believe their gone in Dallas. Friday’s is hanging on. Brinker with Chili’s is still doing well. Cracker Barrel is the best Large restaurant chain out there.
My parents loved Steak and Ale.
I used to like the steaks and the salad bar at Steak and Ale.
Miss it.
