I think we could if there is no name calling / rude comments to each other. Otherwise we should be able to have civil conversations that enlighten both sides.
Yea we need to have guidepost. If one has to resort to name calling (emotion) and making things personal. You lost any discourse and viewpoint your attempting to get me to try to understand. Because you have no point to make beyond emotional outburst and attempt to degrade the other and make them feel lesser than.

On the previous board there were threats of violence.
That’s what I’m talking about. Just simply ban such people. I Know they can sign up under different name and attempt do the same again, ban them again. Certain language and attitudes will not be tolerated. It’s hard to be a censor and that’s what we are asking the moderator to be, but they censor now nothing beyond what they signed up for in the present. Just enforce the guidepost no profane language, no personal attacks, no threats of violence, no post of or endorsing of violence beyond the discussion of it.

There’s usually just one or two that take a good discussion into “Biden sucks” or “Trump is god” territory.
Everyone else seems to do a good job at staying on topic, sharing data or sources and being respectful.

Maybe banning the thread starter would be an easy first step.
JK - keep it civil and non-political and topics can stay. Some have started threads like that here then the moment it’s noticed those threads have turned, they’re gone.
Just FYI, we don’t have a lot of staff to monitor every single post, every single hour, so we just try to keep the board from going off the rails and causing unnecessary anger btwn us all (simple solution works best). We’re all Coogs and this is a Coogs board first and foremost; there are other outlets to vent your political views and make harsh statements from the safety of your keyboard and anonymous user name.

I’m in favor of a political page because I would never go there! I go to the satellite to see if there is anything interesting outside of Coog sports. Being weak-willed and unable to resist, I click on a topic that I know I shouldn’t and follow it anyway. A political page would save me from myself.
