Looks like we got the women’s tennis hire right today. Got the assistant on an SEC champion and NCAA runner-up with connections to Eastern Europe where much of today’s women’s tennis talent is present.
Let’s follow that up by getting THIS hire right.

Whoever is hired has GOT to be plugged into the local talent pipeline. Hopefully those that are in the know these days will add/correct what little quick info looked at on the names being thrown about. Supposedly Hallmark is out but until the ink is on the contract ( his buyout can’t be that big ? )…Sean Allen would KILL it here, why he’s not being mentioned is baffling…hopefully he is behind the scene

Will Davis - Lamar would seem to be plugged in but there’s nothing in his tenure at LU that screams “we gotta get this guy”

just hire a guy who gives me a reason to drive the 13 miles across town, thorough traffic to go to a game. I am retiring this week. I have the time, I just need the motivation.
There was a time I really enjoyed going to games with my wife. It’s a nice way to spend a weekend day.

Sean Allen may not be hired, but how in the heck can you not do your due diligence on him and bring him in for an interview??
Remember this isn’t just about the head coach but it’s also about the staff that these respective coaches can put around themselves.

his former assistant is at Prairie View A&M - he started at Southern University and recruited Texas - you get assistants to certain areas if you want to stay plugged in, or weren’t brought up in the system
Alot of Sampson’s assistants recently were Louisiana natives or tied to him through OU - you hire right and win, networks will develop.
end of the day you’d better have access to in-state and out-of-state pipelines, because if you can’t pay them they leave or sign elswere

Nunez has had more than enough time to get the process rolling. I have my thoughts, but I think our job is not all that attractive at the moment. Maybe it is money or maybe it is because we have been so bad for years.
If it is money, perhaps we can get a young, energetic upcoming coach with great aspirations until the money is there.
If we can afford our new women’s basketball coach then surely we can bring in a decent coach…
