You tired of Whitting yet?

Not in baseball but it’s definitely happened. James Dickey was much uglier. Lots of hostility for Levine and Applewhite too.

Now you’re getting it.

I remember the Dickey hire being controversial, but I don’t remember it generating this much outrage.

Alvin Brooks is the hire that I remember people complaining about the most, especially given that we apparently had Tubby Smith as a candidate, and it was alleged that he turned us down because we insisted that he would have to keep Brooks as an assistant, if he were hired.

Not sure if that was true (if it was, then that was pretty insane), but that’s the only hire I remember there being this much blowback on.

Then I’ll go on…you know…just to spite/defy you.

People legit thought his hiring was an April fools joke.

Pretty much no one was happy with it. There is a lot of pessimism about the hire on this board but it’s largely the opposite on gocoogs.

I don’t see this negativity on TOS either.

IDGAF - feel free to keep vomiting garbage arguments about inbreeding and one MLB guy’s opinion about his experience with an assistant coach back in the day, and you can continue to get threads locked.

If you had just a little bit of self-awareness, you’d see the commonality in the two threads you wrecked. Maybe that makes your day or something, but whatever.

I didn’t wreck it.

The naysayers with their belligerence and personal attacks did.

I simply posted some facts supporting Davis, and an endorsement.

It ain’t my fault if that bothered certain people. Their problem, not mine.

As for you saying “IDGAF…” obviously you do, otherwise, you wouldn’t have just responded in that way. You took time you could have used on any of a number of other things, just to tell me how much what I have to say on this meant to you.

Because the people that know baseball don’t post over there.

In another thread Holmes said no one on this sight was good enough to play in the Southland.

That’s a lie….there are multiple people on this sight that have played at a much higher level including myself.

You made the statement that Will Davis knew more baseball than anyone on this sight….

Also, not true.

You guys ASSUME things that you know nothing about.

The fact that he has coached at Lamar for 10 years does not automatically make him have more baseball knowledge.

I know a at least a few on this sight have an incredibly high level of knowledge.

See, people take different career paths….when I finished playing college ball I found out I had a son on the way….i could not afford to go be an unpaid assistant or move across the country.

Naive at best for you two to assume things you don’t know.

Personally, I have helped hundreds of kids get baseball scollys at schools all across the nation.

At least 50 have gone on to play pro ball and a few in MLB.

So quit acting like you
Know anything, you don’t.

I believe I said that BREGMAN knew more about baseball than anyone else on this SITE (not sight) which is hard to dispute.

And that’s why his endorsement is as weighty as it is.

Go back and re-read.

In fact, here is my quote:

So please, DON’T misquote me.

What I said is factual. No one here knows baseball better than Bregman, given that he’s a MLB all-star.

And no one here knows Davis better than Bregman, given that Bregman has the personal experience of being coached by Davis, which others here don’t.

I NEVER said…what YOU claim I said, i.e., no one here knows baseball better than Davis. If you think I said that a) you are wrong, and b) you need to go back and re-read.

I’m not trying to belabor the point, but I do feel that you need to a) NOT misquote me, or b) call me a liar when you do. You may be lying if you know what I wrote, and misquote me anyway. I sincerely hope that that wasn’t the case. If it wasn’t, then at least read what I wrote a little more carefully.

Read what I posted carefully and quote me accurately, if you don’t mind. Doing so might prevent some subsequent misunderstandings.

Not sure that’s true but everyone is free to have their opinion.

I can see both sides of this one.

I don’t post on gocoogs (isn’t it a pay site), but I know that 247 isn’t showing the same level of outrage, and there are definitely a few people on there who know baseball; one of whom is the son of a guy that worked for the Astros for many years, and another is a guy that actually played baseball at UH.

People shouldn’t assume that the people that disagree with them either a) don’t know the subject, b) don’t know it well, or c) don’t have good reasons for believing what they do and expressing what they believe.

The worst thing anyone can do is to assume that the people that disagree with them are stupid.

If everyone in a room is thinking the same thing…then as George Patton once said…somebody isn’t thinking.

You going for the record today… 3 threads locked in shortest span:rofl::rofl::rofl:

We locked two threads because you and others keep going round and round. We get it - you disagree. Move on.

After all that has been said and done on these threads, it is obvious who the true loser is. It is the poor citizens of Washington. County.

Yet somehow, the citizens of Washington County aren’t complaining.

At this point I am solidly ambivalent about the hire. I don’t hate it like some seem to here, but I also don’t see a lot to get really excited about. I said on the other thread I was hoping whoever we brought in would be able to attract outstanding assistants. Davis is just bringing along his Southland assistants, who lead them to an RPI of 90. Looking it up, they were top 50 in WHIP and ERA, so there is that.

I’d love to hear from some folks who are genuinely excited about this hire and hear some reasons as to why.

He can’t move on. He’s admitted more than once today that he’s only here to get the last word and that we’d be wise to just let him have the last word. His words not mine. No matter the subject matter, he just wants to argue. Productive conversation be damned.
