What does him being a UT alum have to do with anything lol
Guess Dickey and UTSA AD not persuaded
I just donāt trust them. UT leadership has worked to undermine the growth of UH since itās inception.

This would be a nice hire.
DAMN IT!!! I MUST BE PRESCIENT!!!
I SUGGESTED HIM BY NAME ON THIS BOARD!!!
See my June 21st post here!
Oliver Luck.
He has lots of experience with sports marketing, both in Houston, and nationally, and experience in major college and professional football.
Oliver Luck would be huge from an experience standpoint. Donāt know if weād be able to score someone with more across different areas of the sports industry.
He was a candidate for the job when we hired Mack. More experienced now obviously.
I am not backing anyone, I will leave it up to Khator and the pros. I have no clue as to who all the candidates even are, much less the best pick.
No. He was only a so-so QB with the Oilers. Maybe a better, more accurate report would be to keep an eye on Andrew Luckās father.
What has Oliver Luck done of note?
I am still really upset with him for caving on the Houston 1836 issue.
Is that the type of leader we want?
He caved on that issue but wants to be an AD for a school named after the General he took off the logo?
No thanks!
Interesting⦠did not know of thisā¦
Not another WVU retread
Here is an Oliver Luck interview from ~2012 when he was the WVU athletic director and Andrew was playing at Stanford. Itās two parts, and the interviewer is super awkward but I wasnāt really familiar with him so I found it pretty interesting. He talks about his upbringing, family, his then goals for WVU athletics, mentions Dana, etc.

Part 2:
Hereās a more recent one from 10 days ago:
Hard pass on Oliver Luckā¦he seems to job hop a lot with either failing at each stop or failing to impress (in a BY kind of way).
As an executive:
- [Frankfurt Galaxy] (1991-1992)
General manager
- [Rhein Fire] (1995-1996)
General manager
- [NFL Europe] (1996-2000)
President
- Houston Sports Authority (2001ā2005)
Chief executive officer
- [Houston Dynamo] (2005ā2010)
President and general manager
- [NCAA] (2014ā2018)
Executive vice president for regulatory affairs
- [XFL] (2018ā2020)
an administrator:
- [West Virginia] (2010ā2014)
Lots of stops but i fear heās another Holgorsonā¦looking for a safe landing spot in a familiar place instead of hungry to take UH to new heights
Heās hanging out in Colorado with his wife these days doing consulting work per the last interview. It seems like heās winding down so yeah I donāt know if this is the role he really wants or needs at this point. They could honestly just be putting his name out to create buzz, who knows.
This job requires someone with a BY type of energy and creativity.
Iām sure BY has only told us of 10% of the things he is consideringā¦things heās researched
We need a hungry ambitious creative man or woman, like BY.
Oliver Luck reaks of āinside the boxā retread
The Dynamo won MLS titles with Luck as GM.
Heās got experience as a P5 athletic director, and NCAA exec.
Lots of Houston ties (Oilers, HSA, Dynamo).
Get him if we can!
What do we need in an AD? Facilities? We always need upgrades but the big pieces are done for the next 4-6 years. Coaches? We will always need a new tennis coach or softball coach, and we need a new womenās basketball and menās baseball coach stat. But the money making ones are locked. A new conference? That already happened.
Nope. We need NIL, advertising and donations. So any up and comer or retread is just silly. We need a new frontier of AD. We have a mentality of stadium upgrades and butts in the seats, but what we need is $15 million to pay players and double that for their name, image and likeness.
Would he even have interest? If so, he should get a call.
Yesā¦with the team/ players he Inherited from California.
The Dynamo havent been relevant since plus botching the name/logo was 100% on him
